Sometimes the story needs you to sit with it in a place where you can hear its call on the wind, rising from the ocean, and through the trees.
This invitation is for members of The Writer’s Adventure Community.
3 Days and 3 Nights. Immerse yourself in writing.
- A place to cozy into.
- A hot bowl of soup with some crusty bread.
- A hot cup of coffee or tea made just the way you like it.
- A place to hear our own thoughts, and write.
Our focus for this session is Understanding and Writing for Comedy with Tina’s Partner, Screenwriter, Actor, Sketch Comedy Performer and Comedian, Trevor John Campbell. Film credits include: Joe Pickett, Billy the Kid, Damnation, Riverdale and more. He was part of the Sketch Comedy Troupe in Calgary Obscene but Not Heard for over ten years. He is currently completing two comedy feature films and will be directing Tina and Nicolle in an upcoming adaptation of Waiting for Godot called: Waiting For Waiting For Godot.
Details of our time together:
Arrive on Thursday evening anytime after 3pm. Come on in, put your bags down, grab a bowl of soup or a cup of tea, take in the view, or maybe a nap. Let the sounds of the kitchen bring you back, and let’s sit and have dinner together and catch up. We’ll talk about where you’re at in your manuscript, and begin our weekend journey into story together.
Friday and Saturday, wake up when it feels good. There may be music playing softly where the yoga are set. There’s a fire going… so grab a blanket, a glass of fresh juice and give yourself a stretch, or a cuddle on the couch. At 10am, we’re in a 90 minute writing workshop together, followed by lunch at 12:30. The afternoon is yours to write, and I’m here all day, writing with you, and there to support whatever you need.
Friday evening, our first guest pops in: Lillian Ledoux – a professional publicist for authors for an evening workshop about what it takes to release and launch and sell your book. She’s there to answer all of your questions and guide you through your steps after publishing.
Saturday evening, we salon. This is a public fireside reading where you have an opportunity to listen to other writers like you who have completed their piece and have either published it, performed or released it digitally. It’s a cozy gathering celebrating storytelling. You can listen, speak, read or just be. The choice is yours.
Sunday we close our writing getaway over brunch… and every things wraps up around noon.
Includes:
- Nutritious, locally grown food. Farm fresh eggs, veg, breads and more. All diet restrictions are mindfully cared for.
- Private bedroom, shared bathroom. Multiple places to write, sit and be.
- The Gathering room is set for yoga in the mornings, cozy writing during the day and fireside chats at night.
- You are close to trails and steps from the ocean.
- Each getaway offers something new while building on the foundational pieces of the Writer’s Adventure process: The Engine Room, 3 Conflicts, 3 Act Structure, The Unanswerable Question, Tragic Flaw and more… Workshops are Thursday eve and Friday & Saturday morning.
- On Friday night you can try on publishing or publicity questions in connection to your project.
- On Saturday you have an opportunity to read out loud in front of a small, encouraging and genuinely interest crowd of fellow artists and authors.
Whether participating in person or online, every writer has access to at least 1 (maybe two!) one on one coaching sessions with either Tina, Meribeth or Nicolle.
If you are joining us online, you will also have an online ‘host’ to make sure your needs are care for.
See you at your Writer’s Getaway
