The Question

Discover the Question that is Shaping Your Legacy, Leadership and Life. May 15 – 19, 2025 Bowen Island, BC

What if powerful guidance doesn’t come from answers, but rather the questions? Ones that call you deeper into yourself, your purpose, and your place in the world.

The Question is a five-day immersive self-discovery and leadership experience that includes a 24 hour fast and personal vigil, inspired by the ancient practice of initiation and the vision quest. And while this adventure retreat includes all the comforts you need to feel safe, supported and nourished; with delicious food, a warm bed, inspired space and a fire to gather around, make no mistake, this five day experience is designed to make you comfortably uncomfortable.

This is the work of initiation.

This is self-discovery.

This is about your legacy and your leadership.

Based on the soul initiation work of Bill Plotkin, the storytelling wisdom of Clarissa Pinkola Estés, and land-based teachings from the heat, wet and pine of the North American wilderness, this five day escape asks: What if your question is the very quest you are on?

Set on 200 private acres of forested land on Bowen Island, with a swimming lake, a gathering fire pit and an expansive trail network with access to Mt. Gardiner, this retreat is an invitation to leaders, creatives, and seekers ready to embark on an inner and outer journey unlike any other.

The program includes three epic days of self-discovery incorporating outdoor adventuring, the arts, circle practices and storytelling. In the middle of the program is a twenty four hour fast, and deep listening vigil, which we call The Question where you are encouraged to be in silence as you sink into your question and be in relationship with the land.

What Awaits You in These Five Days?

Over the course of 5 days we will wander into the wild equipped with the tools of storytelling, creative expression, deep listening, yogic meditation, conscious connection, wilderness-based wisdom, and backcountry boldness.

We will challenge each other. We will encourage each other. We will watch over each other.

We will bring our questions and stories to the fire every night.

AGENDA

Day 1 – 3:30pm arrival on Bowen Island and an introduction to the land, each other and your journey.

Day 2 – A day with Tina exploring expressive arts with a focus on ‘What is unsaid?’ Expect to work with paint, pastels, light and easy movement, voice, and the land itself. This day is about landing fully in your experience of inquiry, listening, and trusting. We will be using the arts as a playful and powerful way to leave behind what is been distracting you from your own wisdom. We will be moving through the assumptions and narratives holding you in the patterns you’ve come here to shift. This day is about equipping you with ways to ‘be with’ yourself during day 3’s – 24 hour fast and Question Vigil.

Day 3 – An outdoor adventure with Tom. Natural environments provide surroundings where the rules of work and obligation no longer apply. It’s where you are free to be, and that in itself will bring forward a level of vulnerability. Expect hiking, climbing, being exposed to the elements and being in relationship with yourself and the land. This is an opportunity to connect with your edge in a gentle way, and learn from what you discover there. You will have an opportunity to choose where on the land you feel called to sit in ‘vigil’ with your question. This day is about creating agency and safety within yourself for your deeply personal descent into deep listening while being out in the elements.

Day 4 – The Question. This day is spent outside in a place of your choosing. A light snack will be offered the night before and then you will take to the woods to the place you have chosen to sit in vigil with your question. You are invited to bring what you need to feel safe on this 200 acre private property which has been used by campers for decades. You are encouraged to find a place where you can be within reach of your guides, but alone in your experience. This is a day for being with your question, in silence to others, while in communication with yourself and the land. We will break our fast for a late night meal as the sun begins to go down around 8:30 pm.

Day 5 – The Integration – a day with Adam in circle, sharing stories, unpacking your experience, and being in ceremony to support the movement of what has revealed itself to you, for you and from you. This is a threshold experience to support you as you integrate what has emerged. It is a transformational day that allows for you to be in the centre of your story while at the same time, in practice of sharing what has called you forward. This is a day of being in your heart, and recommitting to the vision of your life, but this time, from the inside. Expect laughter, stories, possibly tears, and a deep sense of connection to yourself.
